An Irish Remedy

Having the most horrid flu at the moment and the prescribed remedies not working, consulted my old folks remedies last night in the hope that my burning throat may get some relief, instead I was laughing out loud, but then that is a remedy too.

"The third one for flu:
*Put a bottle of whiskey and a glass at the side of your bed and light a candle next to   them.
*Then get into bed, making sure there are plenty of blankets and start gradually sipping  the whiskey.
*When you see two candles, put the glass down, put the top on the whiskey bottle, blow both candles out and go to sleep.

This is guaranteed to get rid of flu in twenty four hours, but you might have a headache."

For many years the medical profession has failed me, and quite a few other people I know, completely. Sometimes making conditions worse or causing them with the wrong medication. I think our diseases are as unique to us as our DNA and the mass remedies prescribed can only fix parts of what is wrong. You could have such an allergic reaction you could die. I don't know what the solution is, in some areas Dr's do miracles. Perhaps sometimes it is better to just try the old remedies our great grandmothers and grandfathers used. I look at the world and I'm amazed at the contradiction of how advanced and how primitive we are. Development has focused on certain areas more than others and without sounding like a socialist it seems that the areas that generate money has by far been favoured – thus the super rich pharmaceutical companies. Our amazing technology in the area of computers and machines. The ability to communicate with almost anyone, anywhere in the universe if we should need to, and yet no cure for the common cold.
