Catching up with your soul
`A white explorer in Africa, anxious to press ahead with his journey, pain his porters for a series of forced marches. But they, almost within reach of their destination, set down their bundles and refused to budge. No amount of extra payment would convince them otherwise. They said they had to wait for their souls to catch up.'
Bruce Chatwin (1940-1989)
It is not only in the haste of our daily routine but
in the complete race of our lives that we often
leave our souls behind, becoming obsessed with
our work, our relationships, wealth and health.
We become empty vessels floating down the river
unable to find an anchor or shore. Slowing down, no,
even stopping completely is necessary for the
welfare of your soul. These porters, even in
their simple task, knew the importance of giving
nourishment. not only to the body but also to the soul.
Find things to feed your soul, find silence, find
joy and find love.
Look your soul is trying to catch up!
