Everything but honey

“Well,” said Pooh, “it’s the middle of the night,
which is a good time for going to sleep. And to-
morrow morning we’ll have some honey for
breakfast. Do Tiggers like honey?”
“They like everything,” said Tigger cheerfully

And as soon as they sat down, Tigger took a large
mouthful of honey…..and he looked up at the
ceiling with his head on one side, and made
exploring noises with his tongue, and considering
noises, and what-have-we-got-here noises….and
then he said in a very decided voice:
“Tiggers don’t like honey”
“Oh!” said Pooh, and tried to make it sound Sad
and Regretful.
“I thought they liked everything.”
“Everything except honey,” said Tigger.

It is hard to always know what we will like and what we won’t. We can imagine ourselves in almost every situation but until we are actually in that situation we can never know what it is really like and sometimes, to say the least it can be very disappointing. Unfortunately this is what life is like, we imagine one thing and reality brings a totally different gift to our door. I sometimes think we do not appreciate reality enough, we are always searching for more and really there is no more, this is it. We need to find ways to make the most of the realities we have rather than dream of the fantasies we do not have. I am not saying do not aspire for more but if you do aspire for more be prepared for disappointments. Or at least try to do it without expectations. No matter how sweet honey is it may not be to your liking. Until we taste reality we do not know what it is like. Sometimes in our eagerness we shout out “But, I like everything” too late we find out that there are exceptions. Then all we can do is live with them and make them a pleasant but avoidable part of our reality.
