Hallelujah anyway - As it would...
HALLELUJAH ANYWAY
On Monday morning early-
Was it something that you said?-
For every willing atom
Of the universe obeyed.
From something less than blackest night
The brightest day was made.
O Hallelujah! Halleluh! Hallelujah!
Then buy Tuesday after
By a clever sleight of hand
You made the waters flow;
You told the firmament to stand.
By evening you were happy-
Things were going as you planned.
O Hallelujah! Halleluh! Hallelujah!
On Wednesday you were quite inspired
By something on your mind:
From mud and sand you made the land
With mountains ranged behind,
And made it like a garden laid
With plants of every kind.
O Hallelujah! Halleluh! Hallelujah!
You noticed on Thursday
That all the earth was black,
And made the Sun to light her front
The moon to light her back;
The night you set with stars to glow
Like jewels in a sack.
O Hallelujah! Halleluh! Hallelujah!
When Friday came you made the birds
The sky to populate;
With fish you filled the sea
And gave to each a mate;
They showed a swift obedience
When you bid them copulate.
O Hallelujah! Halleluh! Hallelujah!
But such success let to excess
On Saturday at noon,
For then you made the tribe of man
A billion years to soon.
Before he barely learned to crawl
He trampled on the Moon.
Well Hallelujah anyway! Hallelujah!
On Sunday, when you told the man
A Sabbath day to keep,
You little guessed what he was at
While you were sound asleep.
In just one day he threw away
Your labor of a week.
Well, Hallelujah anyway! Hallelujah!
And so begins the second week,
And you arise from rest.
Did you expect to find him waiting
In his Monday best?
The tree is dead, the bird has flown
And burned the sacred nest.
Well, Hallelujah anyway! Hallelujah!
Was it something that you said?-
For every willing atom
Of the universe obeyed.

Not everything we plan always turns out as it should, but almost always as it would.
